The event was tonight was different. This time it was housing 2 different styles of music within 2 different parts of the club. Jungle music and their followers, were shepherd within the a smaller area within the club. It was around half the size of the main room. To be fair it was not quite as crowded as which was holding the Underground Garage room. The tunes were pumping, and there was a vibe in there was wonderful.
On the other hand within the Garage room after spending sometime in the other we arrived halfway through the set of Mike "Ruff Cut Lloyd; and I must admit the quality of mixing was exceptional. He really wasn't taking any prisoners believe you and me. This room was full to capacity and shaking to boot. The quality of his funky yet soulful tunes kept people dancing throughout.
Wandering through this packed part of the club (or trying my best to do so). It came to my attention that the Over 22's Age restriction must have worked as there were noticeably fewer youngsters than in many garage/jungle events I have been to recently.
The crowd seemed to be enjoying themselves, and it was the sort of place where everyone was minding their own business, not to the extent that there was a bad atmosphere. To tell you the truth it was a relief not to be approached by cretins every 5 minutes which seems to be the fashion nowadays.
The Chillout area provided was at a nice temperature. It was hot, but bearable in the Jungle room. The Garage room was kinda steamy and the V.I.P area needed some kind of serious ventilation.
The DJ after spending some time within the Garage room I again ventured into the Jungle room where Rodney T was playing some old classic tunes as well s some more recent offerings.
"Chelsea Football Club Executive Suites" as the venue is officially called makes a solid venue choice as there is plenty of space especially when the summer months are upon us. Smaller pokier venues become unbearable.
Stush! is lucky enough to have now gained its self a reputation, and a loyal following within London. It prides its self on catering for the more sophisticated raver, and this has been achieved without becoming pretentious.
All in all Stush struck me as being a very well organized event with the promoters obviously having the consumers interests at heart. It seems to have come at a time when London its self is trying to promote Garage in a big way in which will events like this can only help.
Lets hope Sophie can continue to write for us on this site. Stush is fast becoming on of the most talked about events featuring Underground London Garage and Jungle events in the City. More Sophie, more please.
