Dj Cosmo Part2- New York, USA Official Interview
![]()
I'll be in Japan sometime this Autumn and am playing other cities in North America, such as San Francisco, Boston and Montreal. However, I Would love to come back to Europe. I want to check out the Back to Basics party, Plastic People, and some of the other nights in the U.K. I also really want to play in Paris. Wish me luck!
![]() 14. The very mention of Uk House brings about mummerings of "Here we come again", or "More please". It has led to some hefty conversations on the "World famous Global House e-mail forum in the past. Has it that Uk House taking into consideration the whole scenario of Uk House that artists from the calibre of Basement Jaxx to Karl "tuff enuff" Brown that the Uk has influenced House music to such as Degree as late that House and Garage artists are now looking towards the Uk for more creative sounds. Or is that wishful thinking? I don't know what American producers think, but I know that over half of the records I'm currently playing are imports! Good music is good music no matter where it comes from. I really love producers like Crispin Glover, Ashley Beedle and Chris Simmonds and labels like Paper Recordings, 20:20 Vision, and NRK. France is doing great things, as well. I just picked up a great EP by Louise Vertigo on Yellow Recordings - another of my favorite labels. I also love Delabel's latest release Chezere - "Where Does your Mind Go".
![]() 15. Are you planning to release a single in the future. Or are you planning to keep your focus towards the radio show that you have? Yes, I am releasing a single sometime this Autumn. I'm calling the project "Chi". Look for it! I'm still keeping focused on the radio show, as well, and plan on syndicating. Right now I'm looking at possibilities in Japan.
![]() 16. As we are talking about your radio show. Are oui planning to have any guest on it within the future? I have guests all the time. Most recently I had Francois Kevorkian and DJ Gregory. Coming up, Eric Kupper may do a live set, and I'll have guest DJ spots from Frankie Feliciano and Ron Trent among others. 17. The Body and Soul club on a Sunday in New York is often talked about as New York's finest Deep House and Garage club. Do you go? Or is it a case of not having the time. Would you go if you had the time? Well, I do go once in a while and I have played there several times. I go about once a month to check out the new stuff. I usually have a lot of fun and hear a lot of good new and old music.
![]() 18. Is there any one in your area that you live that you think we should keep an eye open for in regards to House and Garage music . Adam Scott and DJ Gregory. 20. As lables go..Have you a favorite. One that you always stop at as you flick through the piles of Records in your specialist record shop? I always look out for certain labels but try to review everything that I don't know. you never know what you can find! 21. your technique when playing out. Does it differ to when you are working within the structures of your Radio studios. Do you blend more when you are on the Radio station, or vi ca versa? My technique doesn't really change with regards to radio versus club but more on just what I feel like doing that night.
![]() 23. Are you governed to what you must play? Does advertising dictate what you must and must play on your radio show? There is no advertising on my radio show and I can play whatever I want as long as its not too commercial! 24 Have you got any advice for any aspiring record label producer, dj or club owner within the world of House and Garage. Any rules that he should adhere to!!! For DJ's: Its all about the music and the programming first. Not the mixes and beat matching.( I agree 100% with that Cosmo!!! - Carl Brown)
![]() For Producers: If you are tone deaf - don't make music and definitely do no produce vocals! Oh Yeah, I just put out a mix CD on Nervous Records called "New York Afterhours: A Later Shade of Deep". Check it out!
