Following on from their successful Ayia Napa reunion held at the Lime Club in October,2000. Top Banana took their promotion further a field to the brand new and lavish Pacific Edge Wine bar, in Romford Essex over the Easter weekend - 2001.

DJs on the night included stars of the said reunion: Tony Nicholls, Roger the Doctor, DJ Passion, Danny Mather. On Percussion was Lester.

The promoters made their name on the original Channel Four's (UK T.V Station) - 'Fantasy Islands documentary filmed in the summer of 1999. The follow up 6 part series on the goings on in that Cypriot holiday resort in 2000 has recently been broadcast, finishing the weekend beforehand. So it tied in well with those reminiscing or anticipating as sunny Napa was on everybody's mind!

The rave was held in association with Shagwells bar in Ayia Napa, which is owned by MC Richie P and featured in the second Fantasy Island TV series.

It was also held in association with this website: Carl's Garage site www.garage-music.com of which you would have seen mentioned elsewhere on the site on the editorial pages.

We are grateful and proud to be associated with Top Banana who have put on great events in the past and made their name in Ayia Napa which the site has covered in depth. No doubt the first of many collaborations with garage promoters. However Top Banana was in there first!

As with most Top Banana events the night was packed out and a long queue formed early. Once inside the lovely Essex boys and girls (not the stereotyped Sharons Tracys and Garys, but true clubbers and garage lovers), were well into the happy party vibe found at Top Banana nights.

This was typified by the bunches of bananas hanging from the ceilings. No doubt to create the mood of going bananas under under bananas!

The night featured a balloonist (if that is the correct description)a skilled bloke who plaitted and weaved balloons into head bands,bracelets, necklaces and dolls. The said dolls were popular among the ladies whom he handed them out to. Some were X rated and naughty!

The music was Party Garage along with Soulful 2 Step Garage. No Dark Breakbeat Garage was being played.The crowd was up on its toes and happy in both rooms.

The Essex boys and girls as well as the glamour set, posers and clubbers were largin' it and guzzling down the champagne! Well everyone was under the vibe no lager louts were in the house.

Roger the Doctor who was on last upstairs brought the house almost literally speaking. It did bring back the fun and memories of Ayia Napa.

Well once again, well done to Michelle of Top Banana for putting on a great night!
